The divergence in our view comes from whether we agree that that special right/advantage must be stated legally to be relevant. I don’t agree to that. The privilege is enforced by state officials - so it is a privilege

And the real issue is, how do you get the majority onside with the view that minorities are being mistreated? And it's not by trying to guilt trip people who are not. If you do that, you deafen them to your (entirely fair) point.
People don't like being wrong, much less guilty or complicit.

Not sure why anyone feels guilt tripped. The starting point probably needs to be that people see one another as allies against all oppression. No one feels aggrieved about standing up for a person that they genuinely see as a friend or ally

And unfortunately, a lot of the language utilised by the left actually ends up fragmenting people who actually have a LOT more in common than they do not. Look at the LGBTQ+ community. Insane levels of infighting. Drives me insane. MOBILISE!! Focus on your common goals!! Stop doing the right's job

I am British. Our discourse always follows yours. From my point of view the lefts language has been used as a cudgel by the right - we agree on that. But the power behind that language was never as devisive as the culture war sparked primarily by the right. We can’t fight them by becoming them

For example inequalities in policing. Black British people are treated disproportionately harshly by the police. We can’t stop acknowledging and challenging that because the right is now attempting to highjack the language

Nope. Sorry. If you are being treated exactly as the law states you should be, you are receiving no privilege whatsoever. None.
I agree completely that minorities, especially racial ones are not treated appropriately, but they are disadvantaged. Those being treated correctly are not privileged
