It’s not surprising, nor unfair, writes @buckinboston.bsky.social, that Michael Vick’s sordid past as an abuser/killer of dogs gets revisited whenever he is in the news.
Give Vick a chance to coach. It will help shine a light on animal cruelty issues.

But I will never forgive the horrific torture he inflicted. Just because he paid a fine and did time doesn't mean history is erased.
Opponents fans bring up his history at every opportunity, so associate yourself with him at your own risk.
I’m more interested in why he would be able to jump the line with a checkered past and zero coaching experience.
Why not a QB coach or something?
The prejudice is palpable
Vick is now a story about redemption and if we need to sell something, sell that. Sell that there is a reason to change and that you can get better.
That’s the equivalent of saying “Give Harvey Weinstein a chance to keep working in Hollywood - it’ll keep discussions about rape in the conversation.”
Dude, seriously? Come on. 🤦🏻♀️
First off, it’s an apt comparison, because one can *technically* make the argument that Weinstein can “move past” his previous crimes, too. 🤷🏻♀️
Second, Vick served for conspiring to run, aiding, betting on, & financing a dog-fighting ring. Not cruelty charges.
Sorry, dude. I don’t care how “rehabilitated” you are: that shit *should* follow you for the rest of your fucking life.
That's not an argument for why he shouldn't get a coaching job.
But as for me, having worked for years in veterinary medicine & animal rescue, I’ve seen the absolute worst of what animal abusers are capable of doing, & I maintain that something in their brains must be deeply flawed to allow them to do the horrible things they do.
