So like, eat the money and cut him and play rookies or vets like Winston for a few years. Yeah it sucks, but it’s probably losing seasons either way. Not only is Watson a symbolic blight on their duplicitous franchise, his presence ruins the culture, and criticism of his assaults has shattered him.

Plenty of stories about athletes who are forgiven social transgressions due to their superior performance on the field. Also about athletes that are pilloried due to poor on-field performance even if they are of good character. But the worst has to be one that fails as both a player & a person.

His career is over. He's not coming back from two achilles surgeries. Take the financial hit and either cut him or negotiate an exit to replace a long drawn out fight over the boot no boot wearing issue and his contract status.
