I don't understand all this transfer portal stuff. Some of the extreme examples like Van Lith are also still partly because of the Covid year, but man, like back in my day you chose *a* university to attend. Not one for a year, then another for a year, then another for a year.

I've seen it explained as the means to allow a player to follow the coach who recruited them, if the coach takes a job at a different school, but that *can't* be common enough to explain alone why so many kids pull on multiple college jerseys.

Personally, I went to a D2 school. My father went to Washington State, so I grew up cheering them on and still occasionally do. Apparently their QB transferred to Oklahoma and was "the best QB in the transfer portal" like why does that concept even exist?
