Am in Berlin on a quick stopover to see a client about works by Adolph Menzel, the leading German artist of the second half of the 19thC. Menzel was a dazzling draughtsman, his technical virtuosity and skill is ably demonstrated in this work of what he called a 'portrait of my hand,' from 1847.
