The political levy is entirely optional and you have to actively, deliberately opt in to be charged it. Plus you can stop anytime.
So I've never paid it, and paid my Green party membership dues instead.
Rather than just addressing 'unions', it's the union memberships that need to be reached out to.

As a member of Unite, that decision remains entirely in your (collective) hands. Disaffiliation is a membership decision, not the Executive’s. In any case, one union on its own is not enough. The TUC are the ones who need telling to pull their fingers out, loudly and repeatedly.

Agree. And before people start pointing out the Greens' shortcomings can I say that political parties are like buses... None will take you exactly where you want to go; you get on the one that takes you closest and do the rest of the journey yourself.

I was a Unison Rep for most of my working life, also in the Labour Party until Starmer became leader.
💯agree with you, Unions need to step away, it’s hypocritical for them to support a party that is so far removed from the working class.

Yes and the reason may be that at this point personal benefit & inteest is probably governing decision making in the PLP.

For those interested in the national interest we need PR via votes for LD and Green because without it, no matter how good the idea, there is nobody persuadable.
