Among the many things I love about Chris DeBurgh is that his songs suggest there was a time when folks would hear a mayor's speech and they would cheer. Like a mayor was someone and not just some next-in-line twat who'd stagnated on the council for 40 years, collected a bursary and achieved nothing.
