Believe it or not, this is basically how all cases involving expert testimony work. If the other side has an expert who will testify the sky is blue and the grass is green, then you as opposing counsel just call around to find your own "expert" to testify the sky is green and the grass is blue.

Ideally, you have a judge who will scrutinize everyone's experts and the testimony they seek to introduce. So, for instance, pretty much every trial judge Cantor testified in front of found that he was not a credible witness and disregared his testimony.

Unfortunately, conservative appeals courts then got involved and made up a bunch of nonsense-law to justify their preferred outcomes. For instance, they erroneously disregard the trial courts factual findings, per above, and re-weigh evidence to conclude that the science is not settled on GAC.

Then they make ludicrous arguments in contravention of the most logically applicable SCOTUS precedent (Bostock) that basically amount to "treating people differently based on sex is not sex discrimination, at least insofar as we hold the plaintiffs are godless icky people." Fun stuff.
