Ah the fun of being high up in the main stand and when there’s a lull in the game, betting on exactly which minute of the game the next ship, travelling from left to right will pass the third stanchion.

Lovely. In an otherwise grim setting, at non-league Newhaven’s ground, if you’re lucky, there is the magic of seeing the ferry looming, docking and unloading its passengers just behind the ground. Always astounds me how big and slow it is as it hoves into view.

I went there to see Forest during their promotion season under Frank Clark. Game called off about 30 mins before KO because of the freezing weather. By the time it had been rearranged, we had won promotion and it was nice and warm. Had a kick around on the beach before the game. Lovely old ground.

Love Blundell Park. I'm a Pompey fan and being short of money hitched up there back in the day. We got a lift to Manchester and caught the 3am train to arrive in Cleethorpes at 7am.
I cannot describe how cold the Findus Stand was with onshore North Sea wind but loved it all nonetheless.
