The Dept. of Ed and National Institute of Literacy released data in the first Trump admin that over half of US adults are functionally illiterate and can’t read at an 8th grade level.

Coincidentally ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and ‘1984’ are usually on high school English syllabi.
