Tsui Hark's Chinese Ghost Story remains one of my absolute favorite movies.
A young tax collector arrives in a rough and tumble town, pushed to sleep in a haunted temple, he meets a woman's ghost who had been sent to steal his soul but couldn't bring herself to do it.
There are several movies titled "'til there was you" but I'm thinking of the RomCom from 1997 that featured the twist that the two leads never meet until near the very end of the movie.
The movie showcases the toxicity of RomCom tropes as the leads mature past them before they meet as better people
I believe that the Speed Racer movie by the Wachowskis was grossly mis-marketed. A lot of the advertisements leading up to its release painted it as a darker edgier toned version of the classic anime.
I went to it on a whim expecting disappointment and found a gloriously bombastic spectacle of fun
Innocent Blood is one of the first movies I saw that really sold me on the idea of a heroic vampire. Marie is a French vampire of unknown age who survives by feeding on evil men and making sure they don't come back as vampires.
And then she messes up with a mafia boss leading to the movie.
I know Alien Resurrection isn't considered the best of movies and it has a lot of flaws, but it is just a fun movie and the concept of a xenomorph/human hybrid is just endlessly fun.

It has striking cinematography and visuals with all the dripping narrative glory that Akira Kurosawa's films are renowned for.
