Snorkelled twice on the Reef today off Cairns - and it’s looking pretty poor.
People from multiple Countries on the boat with us - & honestly they’re pleased to see a fish - and I’m thinking ‘what a shocking legacy we’ve left to ruin one of the greatest natural wonders of the world’ 😞😞 #auspol

International tourists have no idea - and the tour operators aren’t going to raise it!
Heartbreaking all round.
Tourists still love it - and staff talk it up - but it’s very clearly not in good shape.
The outer reef was just starting to look bad, so I'd hate to see it now.
There used to be Coral on the shoreline around Port Douglas.
Before my time up here, but I've seen the pictures.
Now it's dying 20 km offshore too.
This was at two of the tour co's
"select sites".
I don't ever want to go again.
I saw one or two dead patches, but it was mostly bright colours, full of fish. It was on my bucket list, so how lucky was I being able to see it like that? Breaks my heart knowing what it has become.
