This makes me think of something my dad always said, “Don’t write something so it can be understood; write it so it cannot be misunderstood.” With so many acting on self-interest, trying to bring change requires specifics in any initiative/legislation to ensure action.

As someone who was chief negotiator for my union, I understood the importance of wording in our contract. Citizen initiatives don’t need to be written by lawyers, but should be written by those who’ve written contracts or who possess excellent writing skills—and patience.

Not sure why any country would listen to us preach about democracy anymore. Many states and our federal government are doing everything they can to quash it at every level.
