It would be a waste of his talents. IMO House/Senate leaders need principally to be super-strategists like, say, McConnell or Pelosi. Both are strategic wizards but aren't dazzling speakers. If Schumer goes, his replacement should be more like Mitch/Pelosi. Hoping Booker runs again for president.
I mean, powerful as it was it was just one speech. Maybe the problem is the American susceptiblity to the grand gesture. He might well be great but it should surely be based on more than a single fillibuster.
If @booker.senate.gov is going for minority leader, it’s a great case for it. The Senator showed he could use the rules of the senate to make a statement. He made a statement by beating Thurmond’s record, with class & style.
He declared his willingness to be a on the front lines, leading in this fight. He put himself at risk, showed humility and vulnerability. His peers gave him loving support. Schumer may be handing off the baton the way he supported him. Much like Pelosi to Jeffries.

Fuck. We have way too many people who don't understand that centralizing a movement against a fascist leader is point for point how many of the resistance in Germany was taken down. We don't have enough people educated on how fascism works.

So Booker holds the longest Senate speech record. The longest speech in US Congressional history belongs to Champ Clark, Democratic House Minority leader from 1909. He spoke for over 58 hours. He had to talk nonstop non stop for all that time, no breaks whatsoever. Just figured it was worth sharing.
I mean, I don't wanna steal the guy's "victory" because a racist piece of shit not having it I am fully okay with. It's just not at all the right time for that and also it gives the fascists a more condensed target which is objectively bad. I don't think that was his intent, but this isn't "good."
He absolutely meant to do it. Don’t let yourself be fooled. He and his staff planned it for days. They knew Schumer was despised and on the ropes. They effectively delivered the knockout blow. Schumer never looked so desperate as he did asking Booker if he knew he broke the record. It was masterful.
