US Navy SEALs have a test to see if there are sharks near you. Dip your finger in the water, and taste it. If it's salty, they say, you're in the ocean, and there are probably sharks near you!

While true, it doesn't account for dozens of species (NOT just bull sharks) in fresh or brackish water.
