It's not better than doing nothing. It is actually expending energy and accomplishing absolutely nothing (see the last 8 years of history for examples).
I'm not suggesting "things" other than perhaps mass protests that got us out of Vietman - I'm old enough to remember that (1of2)

The protests were massive, and we had just gotten into the television coverage was live. That was a huge part of why we got out. It wasn't losing so much as dinnertime tv coverage of dead and wounded American soldiers that sealed the deal.

I was 16 when Saigon fell and watched it on tv (1975) - the student led protests were often shown on the news, and the Kent State massacre in 1970 shocked the nation.

(2) That is something we civilians can do. The pols can stop making polite speeches and start obstructing the way the Republicans have for years. Don't let them accomplish anything easily. Sue the hell out of them. Use their power to accomplish. The other guys do it. So should we.

I still think starting an impeachment is better than tweeting how tariffs will impact Super Bowl snacks, or whatever pointless Instagram vid my senator is filming right now. But yes, disruptive protests would be much better.

Fair enough. I wouldn't argue with that point at all. I think we have to be all in, each to their own talents, but it should he top to bottom (or maybe bottom to top).
