hey :) you may get some push back on this as follow4follow has caused a lot of issues in the community in the last few years. it led to some extremely toxic people holding a lot of sway and abusing people so folks are pretty resistent / opposed to it now.

That problem sounds more like someone was given too much power over their community. Just because someone has a high follower count doesn't mean they should be someone that is looked up to.

There are a few people in this field that I've found are toxic already, and that's what unfollowing is for

Don't just blindly follow someone because they are perceived as "popular". To grow in this community is to engage and outreach, creating friends of all follower sizes so that you can grow together.

Always double check starter packs and promoted accounts, unless you trust the person posting them.

it has very little to do with popularity but if u didn't see it when it was starting, thats an easy assumption to make

I dont follow anyone I havent interracted with a fair few times and know to be decent. sometimes will chat to folks for 6 months before following them
No everyone is the same tho

It was in the wider ttrpg community as a whole and there were at least 4 different people in the last 2 years.

Right or wrong, a lot of folks blame Follow4Follow. make of that what you will, I personally avoid it and keep a small managable feed.
