I said this from the second I heard Kendall mention the 4 point requirement. Linking PIP to the health element was truly shocking.
Currently these are the amounts.
UC with health element = £809 PCM
PIP standard rate = £290.60 every 4 weeks.
Roughly £1100 a month. People on the standard
rate have scored between 8-11 points and are very unlikely to have scored 4 in any one component. People on the enhanced rate have scored more than 12 points but are often awarded it by lower scores tallying up.
In future, if you fail to score 4 points then you are stripped of both your PIP
award and the health element of UC. And you will be expected to fulfill all the requirements that regular, healthy UC claimants do or risk being sanctioned. Job applications etc
So you will go from £1100 a month to £393 a month overnight.
Which is abhorrent.
What I'm hearing a lot is that
Those 8 points across different components can be just as debilitating as scoring 10 points in just one component. And hundreds of thousands of people will be in this exact position.
Truly vile.
