Bascially whoever in the company saw 'Abrdn' and encouraged it to be used, cannot ever be trusted again with opinions on marketing.
It just looks wrong to most people. Of course it can work to shorten a name, or spell it a bit differently, but it has to look 'right' still, and this doesn't.
