Cartridge games were notoriously expensive. Even more so for RPGs, which often used additional chips to hold more data. That's part of the reason why PlayStation was so hugely popular. Discs were far cheaper for both manufacturers and consumers.

It was USD back in the day. Wanted Chrono Trigger when I was a kid and it ranged between 69.99-80 USD. Mega Man X3 $70. Blockbuster needs a comeback.
