Meredith Vasta, an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, works at Harvard's Peabody Museum.

Among the museum's race science collections are envelopes of hair cut from Native children at boarding schools.

Vasta found her grandmother's hair, taken from her when she was 9.
