A friend of mine, who'd played before, asked me (on my first play through) to stream via Discord the "Jeff" Chapter so she could watch how I react. Smash cut to me whimpering and screaming "oh no what the fuck!" every five minutes. Incredible, incredible game.

Also, if you're relatively new to VR, I strongly recommend Team Beef's idTech VR ports (via Sidequest) to Meta Quest 3/3S. Games like DOOM, Quake 1/2/3 and PREY are all so, so much fun in VR (plus games like Tomb Raider)

Unless you're very serious about VR I don't feel like you need anything more premium tbh. Very nice entry point

It's sad to say I've yet to see any VR game other than HLA cause me to bust out my head set. I bought a Rift S specifically for HLA and played it at launch. It was so good all on it's own to make me feel I got my money's worth with the headset.

How long could you play at once for a session? I've been trying to beat it for months now cause I feel the headset presses my face too much after 45 minutes ish. I think I'm at about chapter 5 or 6

I was doing a chapter at a time

The chapters get a little longer as it goes on but I also became more comfortable with it

Full standing was the big fix for me. My body didn't like head movement being controlled by the stick at all so I did all rotations physically

I had to do smooth locomotion with snap turning. It's been years and I still can't do smooth turning in any game in VR.

The smooth locomotion makes the game so much more immersive than the teleport, but it can be a huge hurdle especially for first timers.

Full standing is absolutely the way to go. Virtual desktop streaming is also surprisingly good if the USB-C cord is ever troublesome. Bitrate might drop a little visually but it’s very responsive
