Cool, but that's not what's needed. What's needed is open refusal. If they have zero way of showing shoppers they have maintained their DEI commitment, then this just seems like a whine of "oh no we're losing our customers because we did the wrong thing, how do we make them believe otherwise."
The reframing or rebranding of DEI programs is pure cowardice. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck for fucksake call it a duck. Diversity, equity and inclusion policies and programs are meant to strengthen our workforce not the other way around.
So kneel to the jackass and let him think he won something? Won't work. Next will come the lawsuits. For every perceived DEI hire, a white far-right "christian" male isn't hired. They won't be happy until every "DEI" hire is out of work. That means all women, LGBTQ+ & minorities are out of work.
A boycott against Target, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Amazon, Walmart all at the same time makes no sense. We have to live! I couldn’t accept that Target was abandoning us. They’re too nice
Being white is exactly why I should boycott. If I continued shopping at these places who consider people less than, I’m no better than the company. I want to be an ally and boycotts is a way I can be. I’m no where near perfect, but I try to be a decent human being.
My issue is public caving and seemingly catering to conservations. Who would set a pride display on fire because it's in the store. Those aren't the kinds of folks I wanna shop with. I would rather take my business else wear or shop online from a company directly where I can.
