This means that all NATO countries that have allowed US bases must consider the danger posed by the presence of US troops within their borders. It is one thing that the US suddenly could occupy territory of a NATO country, another that Trump could order US troops to support a fascist coup.
The malignant narcissist Donald J. Trump in the Oval acts as if Putin and Xi had instructed him to decapitate the US and destroy its alliances. In any case, France's offer to station troops there to protect Greenland from Trump should put Moscow & Beijing in the best of moods!

Still hoping for a complete European victory if war does occur, however would prefer if the States would depose the orange tyrant and avoid war entirely if at all possible.

France is the only large western European nation not to have US military bases on their soil, and only the French are currently willing to stand up to US belligerence and aggression.
The United Kingdom’s nuclear deterrent is independent. Its nuclear warheads are designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom by British companies. They do not depend on the United States in any way.

Many Europeans aren't aware or may dismiss it as irrelevant.
I think, unfortunately, it's quite plausible we'll come to hugely appreciate the French approach to their independent nuclear deterrent.
Negotiations with aggressors are much easier from positions of strength.

Makes it sound like it’s a discussion - it isn’t.
The guy is threatening military enforcement if they don’t agree, to which there’s a completely different word used to describe that.
