Well, the thing you ought to do when somebody throws a grenade in your midst: You exit, and regroup without the nutjob. We have already seen that the US has no qualms about breaking treaties if the opportunity presents itself, why pretend NATO is a special case?
He is right we must all increase defence spending. Not because he says so, but because we need to be ready to defend ourselves alone from Russia. And not because NATO want it; NATO will not help us. Our increased spending must be earmarked to be spent only with EU defence industry; not the US'
Is there a go fund me for Ukraine? Most of US are not Putin puppets or under a Felon spell. We want to see a free and democratic Ukraine and a thriving Europe that doesn’t loathe US.
NATO members have to do exactly that. The US alliance is over. They’re a fascist regime, at best. Europe needs to be able to stand up for itself. And defend its interests, possibly even against the US. They’re as much of a threat as other regimes if not more, given their leverage.
This talk about spending targets is a smoke screen since he changes the target every time he gets a response with higher spending %, last demand was 5% ( I think US is at 3,5%). HE WANTS OUT OF NATO period. And any tool he can find is sufficient. Putin wants a weak NATO & he hands it to his buddy
They all know what they’re not willing to say out loud: Trump doesn’t actually want or expect anyone to hit a 5% target. That number is intentionally set to be unreachable because he wants a pretext to pull the U.S. out of NATO.
