Except I am not so sure Mr Trump is popular in Ireland? Not even with politicians & definitely not with the voting public. Who do politicians fear most? The people who vote for them?
This guy is a hack and all his articles have a certain 'tone' about them that is very suspect and quite unpleasant. He has some axe to grind and you're giving him the platform. Well done.
Have been saying this for years!! Ireland is Americas bitch, & the EU’s scape goat. We’re 48% dependent on US trade and business and punished for it by the EU. If Ireland was split to shares America would almost own us! As it is, they have too much influence over us thanks to our pimps in government
The whole tone is weird. The claim that of Ireland didnt have corporate taxes from US industries located there it would have run a budget deficit is nonsense... a country runs it's budget in line with it tax receipts.
But I do agree that regulation of big tech should be done directly by Brussels.
A lot of people seem to have a hard time telling the difference between opinion pieces and news articles. When clicking on the link it’s obvious the article is an opinion piece, which you may or may not agree with.
An interesting if deeply flawed piece. Its bias is obvious in the use of emotive terms like “Trojan horse”, “lapdog”, “blind panic” and “51st state”. Of course the criticism of its publisher by the Trump regime might be causing the Bezos effect - similar to the Washington Post.

Opinions articles still require research, facts and evidence if making big claims.
I spent allot of time in Ireland while in tech, the author has a sinister narrative that's not connected to reality.
Perhaps another bezos bro. They don't take much to grab their ankles.
I've unfollowed @politico.eu
For me this is not sincere journalism.
