OPINION: What Western policymakers must confront is not whether Ukraine deserves support, but whether the current strategy is helping it win, or simply helping it survive long enough to lose more slowly.

The problem here is that Russia has already rejected the author's idea's for a peaceful settlement many times over, emphatically. How exactly is Russia supposed to be convinced to behave differently if not through sheer force? Russia only understands coercion and must therefore by coerced.
This could have been addressed just a few months into the full scale invasion. It clearly hasn't worked, but NATO allies haven't had the balls to do what needs to be done. And now there's Trump...
Aren't you ashamed to publish this rubbish analysis? "whether the current strategy is helping it win, or simply helping it survive long enough to lose more slowly. This doesn’t mean Ukraine should surrender, nor does it mean abandoning Western support." On the day russia killed 15 civilians. Vomit.
Hogwash. There is a pathway to total Ukrainian victory: a collapse of Russia.
It has already happened in my own lifetime. We all saw the USSR collapse. Putin seems to be trying to reassemble it. Welp. Time for Round 2 then, if Putin insists on winning Ukraine, we just gotta break Russia again
Bullshit. Russian propaganda. Freezing the war means turning Europe into Korea - at best. In a forever war under a forever threat with a rogue country next door and a war that will re kindle in a few months or years. Russia can be defeated or bankrupt to collapse. It is the only choice Europe has.

Wtf is this shit?
There is!
Embargo level EU secondary sanctions would instantly freeze Russia out of the global economy.
Make an example of a country like UAE that facilitates Russian aggression via international services.
It a strong message to send to the world.
Says who, the FSB?
Of course they could help Ukraine win the war, if they chose to.
They aren't even shooting down Iranian drones for Ukraine currently (though they do for Israel).

The goal has never been for Ukraine to win. That needs to change if we want the killing to stop.
I don't see how this could be true. The imbalance in forces is enormous. It's really about how much we want Ukraine to win.
