Indira Gandi was an Indian politician and stateswoman. She served as Prime Minister of India from 1966-1977. Later, she served from 1989 until her assassination in 1984. She was killed by her bodyguards.
Her anti-poverty campaign led her to be known as “Mother of Indira.”
