Paulina Alvarez was a founding inspiration for Celia Cruz who was an internationally , respected, renowned artist. Alvarez was born in Cuba where she grew up singing. She was a quite talented soprano who was known as the Empress of Danzonete. She was the first woman to lead an orchestra in Cuba.
