It’s weird. Isn’t it? Lot of the times players don’t have close control and it costs them. Antony is good at that. Decision making isn’t good for sure. But, that can be simplified with good coaching.

Just I see these odd moments of magic that you never really see from other players. I know it was “only” Burnley but that goal at the end of last season was really eye catching. Fingers crossed for Amorim getting more out of him 🤞🏻

Big issue with Ten Hag was he made it a basketball game. Many players suffered. Big ones probably — Antony, Casemiro, Mainoo, Ugarte (this season). All of them just don’t suit games where they have to cover a large ground all the time.

I think Garnacho is better suited to wing back. Not sure about Amad or Antony. PL is a tough league. You have to be good in large space to play wing back.

I’d like to see how Antony does in the deep bench role in Amorim’s 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 sideline formation.

I guess I’m curious like you, but competition for the non Bruno AM is tight, and the valuable minutes there should go many others first. Both for team continuity and for player development.

It’s going to be interesting to see how Amorim profiles all of the wingers. Arguably only Amad is naturally suited to that ‘wide 10’ role. Rashford may be better at striker, Antony at wingback. Garnacho?

I don’t see it personally. But, who knows. Antony has the tenacity and work rate to help the defense. But, he just doesn’t have the power in his game to cover big space effectively.

Agree he has the work rate, I do worry about his discipline as he has a tendency to get a bit snappy! Would love to be proven wrong but just don’t think he fits or ousts any of the players ahead of him.

From what I have seen I still think he's looking for ball carrying ability from the front 3. Assuming he plays Fernandes that makes it even more important for the other 2 to have that quality. Antony still cannot beat a man with regularity so don't think it will even with under Amorim

I've had similar thoughts about Antony and his position for a while, I honestly think he could be half decent in an Ødegaard-esque role. He presses well and think he'd be decent in that half-space.

It can be hard for s.american wingers in the PL, not everyone is a Juninho, so maybe the AM role will suit him better.
Should definitely try, even if just to try and raise his resell value.
