But it weirdly feels like I'm losing time, I'm so eager to jump to the next thing. While when I do, I just can't get anything done. It's hard to pull the plug for a while!

it's tricky for sure! I usually think of taking a break and playing some games as "work" in it's own way, you recharge those creative juices by seeing what other devs have done and you don't burn yourself out :D
