He can’t (won’t?) even understand that nearly the entire trade deficit (& who cares, BTW) is attributable to crude oil that we’re selling, which is generating 1,000s—probably 10,000s—of US jobs.

They have to back out of buying jets that would remain under US control and maintainance, when it is the US they would most likely have to use them against. I don't see anyone else threatening Canada. It isn't an insult to the US or even retaliation. What else are they supposed to do?

My daughter in law is Canadian now a US citizen. She was supposed to go to Canada this summer for her brother’s wedding. Now she won’t go because she’s afraid she won’t be able to get back into the US. I’m so sad and embarrassed my country has come to this.

Good choice on her part. ICE has put a young Canadian lady in chains in an immigrants lock-up in Arizona with just a floor mat & foil for a blanket. Why? Her visa was expired. She asked border patrol to re-validate it for her. She was just a few yards inside our border trying to legalise her visit!

I agree with 100% of this, except for the line about the US deciding what to do while we were storming the Normandy beaches. I think he might have meant Dieppe? By Normandy (June 6, 1944), the US was fully in.

I saw this letter on FB and made that correction about Normandy. I think the point should have been that, as with WWI, we were fighting for more than two years before the U.S. joined in. However, I didn’t want the bravery and sacrifice of U.S. Vets on D Day on Omaha and Utah beaches disregarded.
