True in RoW, and forever, until the advent of vaccines, antibiotics, clean water and garbage collection/disposal.
though @ourworldindata.org would suggest mortality rate 30-40 %.
Difficult to arrive at a firm number without painstaking analysis of death certificates and many of these will be missing

Anyone visiting cemeteries while working on genealogy will agree. Headstones with numerous little ones listed. My grandparents lost three out of seven. All before the age of one.

Between RFK Jr eliminating vaccines, & red states continuing to pass laws saying 10-year-olds can work in factories & fields & meat-packing plants, & also have babies & be forced by their parents to marry men old enough to be their grandfathers, we'll soon pass those figures.
