I’ve been saying the same thing about the US Senate when discussing the inaction of the Dems. They don’t even see it - just keep clinging to their antiquated trust in the upper-ness of their house.

Just diversify your news sources. The best scoops this year have been from outfits like @wired.com, not the @NYTimes and @teenvogue.com and @damemagazine.bsky.social have been out there doing the work for years now. Without fear or favor as the old Times' saying goes. 9/

The problem isn’t that people who follow politics aren’t getting what they need from The Times. The problem is that because papers like the times are deliberately downplaying what’s happening, the general public that doesn’t pay much attention is truly in the dark.

And for those of you who are reading this as a defense of Baker. It is not. It's a plea to look upstream at the paper and at similar outlets. The blame belongs to the owners and editors that enforce these peurile norms, and create an incentive structure that rewards this kind of work.

Canceled NYT many months ago, after having been a paid subscriber my entire adult life. Complete and utter abdication of journalistic responsibility. Pretty sad, considering who they used to be. And don’t get me started on the Washington Post.
