cross dressers are fine but i jus saw a guy on reddit casually say he was part of the trans/cd community and i wish ppl wouldn’t say stuff like that. that conflation is a core component of transphobia. trans ppl are not cross dressing. the idea that we are is behind most anti-trans laws. - ThreadSky

So, It's a funny coincidence. I was reading a paper with the guidelines to detect GD in children under age of 12 and for amab they specifically mention crossdressing, for afab it was just preference for tipical male cloths

I just found this double standard infuriating coming from pediatricians

Update, I discovered where that double standard comes from. It's from the DSM-4 guidelienes. Issue is, the paper I was reading is from 2024 and the DSM-4 stopped being used in 2013...

Yeah, I don't like the community conflation.

In my experience, there's a fair few trans women who misidentify themselves as crossdressers at first , but that doesn't make them the same in etiology or motivation.

Gods, I remember desisting in 2000 and voluntarily withdrawing from transsexual groups "out of respect" and crossdressing communities bored me to absolute tears with what they focused on and I should have clued in before I burned out my crisis fuse.

I remember early on I was following a local cross dresser, they were really pretty, went out in public and I was impressed and wanted to get tips on presentation from them. But I quickly found out we had little to nothing in common as far as our experience with gender.

We had a kind of a 'feminine spectrum' club here with drag queens, transsexuals, crossdressers, transvestites (there was some...subtle difference in the 90s?) and near the changing area, there was a game on TV (haha, not that TV) and it came across not even as a tomboy space but a MASCULINE space.

Everyone I ended up socializing with there was someone who would engage in real world conversion and almost to a FAULT they all turned out to be trans women (at the time or when I caught up to them years later) and it wasn't the same sort of "persona switch"?

And also, YES I AM SLOW ON THE UPTAKE 😄
