That's not to say that Salah's form will nosedive after Christmas. Far from it. I just wonder if the logical thing to do here is to part ways on a high rather than extend and hope that the very natural act of ageing doesn't apply here.

Such a tricky one for the club to manage - do we give him a 2+1 and hope that he keeps up his form for another season or two? (I would prefer this option as don't think he can be replaced easily); or do we sell now and hope he doesn't carry this form to another team?
If they let him go there will be a possible price on the pitch ( he may decline but how quickly) but there will be a definite price off it with a disgruntled fan base and commercial impacts. Get him to sign for two years highly incentivised with possible extension… he says knowing nothing of situ 😊
I know it's completely different situations, but I think Rangers proves a cautionary tale about holding onto players for too long and not selling them just after their peak value.
Major caveat being: Salah is one of the best attacking players to play in the EPL.
Derailed Celtic in the 2020/21 season. A lot of focus on 10 in a row and holding onto players like Edouard, Christie, etc when they were at their peak value (though the chronic underinvestment in the squad in the years prior didn't help either). There were other factors, but it didn't help.

Tough one, but I hope he stays.
