Half of Ukraine's lithium reserves are in Donbas province in eastern Ukraine. Donbas is the first region Russia invaded and Russia most likely refuses to cede back. China is set to surpass the USA in EV battery production soon and Russia can make a huge profit exporting Ukrainian lithium to China.
