If the tarrifs add 47 cents, the retailer will use it as an excuse to raise the price 60 cents giving themselves a 13 cent higher profit. If they don't tell us, we assume it's all tariff. We get ripped off by both.
Many restaurants added a Covid surtax on their bills. Being transparent to explain why their prices suddenly jumped. Applies here as well. Otherwise, we're just blaming the retailers for price increases...
I know that I’m preaching to the choir here on Bluesky but if this administration is so proud about its “big, beautiful tariffs”, why are they so desperate to hide the impact of this massive regressive tax being imposed on our population in the name of some insane ravings about an emergency?
Do you already make so much money that you haven't taken note of what items cost? Trust me, the magats know too. This is more bs distraction from the more serious problems. They're going to get tired of feeling the pain pdq.
I have a small business & I sell on etsy.I plan on showing tariff costs to my customers. They should know why they are paying more.
Most of the materials I use to make my art come from China so my costs have already gone up.
Amazon will be just fine but us little guys are gonna be hurt badly
And seriously… Fuck these retailers…they’ve been paying slave wages and getting cheap products from China for generations… Pocketing all that profit and they can’t absorb a little bit of a tariff hike now???? Fuck them!!!

Even prices of things not subject to tariffs will rise, just like prices rose during COVID19.
