The reason I'll never forget is because I was a JW at the time, so I wasn't allowed to celebrate Xmas. So, during a class Xmas party, she gave everybody a candy cane, but me. I sat there crying.
The next morning, the assistant teacher found out and quit in front of the whole class. 😳
He was actually my first Black teacher and the reason I got my bachelor's in early childhood education. I always hope he has had a successful and happy life.

I don’t but I do remember how she volunteered to do extra reading classes with me before school so I could be assigned to the proper reading level after transferring schools mid year
Mrs Cruz for Kinder. We had rest time—everyone resting on mats on the floor. She rotated who got to be the wake up kid. When it was your turn, you had a foam wand and you got to get up first, lightly tap each kid to signal it was time to get up. I still remember the thrill of wielding the wand.
In my head I said of course and then immediately drew a blank on my PreK Teachers name. I know my kindergarten teacher cuz I saw her for years after. I actually saw her not so long ago and she met my baby 🥹. Her remembering me after 30+ years of new students is crazy tho.

We called her Mrs butts. We were kindergarteners so it wasn’t even like that in terms of jokes. That woman was made to be a teacher. I accredit her with my love of reading and math. I think she’s the reason why I was a gifted student
Omg this reminded me of my 2nd grade teacher. I remember I smashed my finger in the car door and he would literally write on the board for me when I had to do problems 🥹🥹
