ATC have a 2.5-6% test passing rate. After passing the test, there is an in the field test that 25-40% of the 2.5-6% fail.

A large percentage of the ATCs were trained in our military. 6 year commitment, high washout rates. They have to pass the FAA test and recertify regularly to keep their license. They have to apply to the FAA prior to age 31 based on mandatory retirement age.

Obviously there’s no DEI programs when it comes to Air Traffic Controllers but clearly there should be since women are notoriously better at multitasking and anticipation.
