It's definitely going to be a challenge if I ever decide to go to the multiplayer route. So far Im 3D and single player even maybe offline mode.

Depending on the type of game, local multiplayer can sometimes be added without being too big of an investment, but online stuff will make it all way more complicated.

Lets make a free library that handles multiplayer, cross save, cross progression, and cross play. All of these things have been "figured out" to the point that it should be pretty simple.

Idk I do pixel art and you have to be so deliberate witch each pixel that it makes me wonder if just rigging a 3D model would be more time efficient for a future project

You'll need at best a few weeks being able to rig reliably. I see too many people thinking it will take a few days, but rigging well is a lot more complicated than that.
Modeling ties heavily into it too, since you need good topology for good defamation.
But when you know it, it's probably faster.
