I advise against it. Some might look at it as a badge of honor to be on the list. That and what TechCoyote said about how the list can be abused by some biased moderators. I say keep it hidden.

As a fellow moderator, my advice is that haters and trolls should be dealt with as they come, not on a preliminary action based on the suggestions of a few. The only time information is generally shared around like that is in the most extreme scenarios like heavy racism or transphobic conduct. 1/2

But putting people on such a list is drawing attention to said people which could end up being exactly what they want. It would be far more beneficial to follow the Bluesky method of silencing trolls by ensuring they have no oxygen. Block and move on, and only when it happens. Never before. 2/2

To add to what everyone is saying, I agree on their points on this not being a thing. On top of giving them attention and a reason to further continue harassing, you could be reprimanded yourself because such a list existing could be considered a form of harassment itself and seen as “witch-hunting”

I'd personally say no. Not to slight you specifically or anything but in my experience lists like that always end up with people who a specific moderator happens to dislike getting added to it. I guess a solution is that more than one mod would need to validate entries

Let them know you're adding them to a permanent block list. If they don't change their behavior, then please share that list so we can be safe from those who wish to abuse us.

Trouble is a lot of furries started out as haters. I don't know if maintaining a blacklist is a good look. It would be too easy to evade for the trolls and probably cause more trouble than it's worth.

No I think that would set a horrible precedent. If it's a genuine user who plans on staying on the platform, blocking en masse can have actual legit mental health reprecussions.

I thought there was already a rating system in place with nuisance users and stuff?

I was referring to the "existing" rating system where if you report people enough or someone gets blocked enough they get labeled by the system as a nuisance user.

Not sure if that's even a thing currently tho

I think having a public shame wall generally does more harm than good and prevents people from changing their ways. If you constantly shame someone for doing something they will start to internalize unhealthy things no matter what.
Block lists are gross imo
