Not a pop at you in particular, but it's a distinctive Trumpian/right wing zoomer trope that seeks to delegitimise anyone who doesn't just nod through their bullshit. The Tele is as mad as a bag of badgers but the people working for it have at least done some training.

If they've had training, it appears to have been wasted. As far as their ethics is concerned it seems to be for sale. AND they are far from alone.

The MAGA thing is another issue in it's own right. It's simply about down-talking anything that doesn't concur with their fantasy world, including facts

I'm not going to get into a row here but this is slightly naive about how newspapers work. A working hack has very-little-to-no say in the politics of the paper they work for. Most papers are right wing at the behest of their owners. If you want a career, this is your lot, sadly.

I'm well aware of that, it's patronizing to infer that I'm not. That doesn't mean you either have to like it or respect it. It explains why so many established journalists are becoming independent in the latter stages of their careers, presumably having become financially secure.

Once upon a time I fantasized of being a journo. Realised a long time go it was just as well I didn't. I couldn't have done it. I was asked to behave unethically too often as it was.

I lived that dream. Gave it seven years and that was plenty. However, I still have respect for those that continue to pursue it. Horrible job, mostly. Most I know still in the game don't agree with the shite they're expected to produce.
