If you think the solution was a choice of emphasis within the campaign, I just kinda think you're being dense and not actually facing the problem as it exists, but making up a new problem that you can beat with messaging.

The median voter was the type of person googling "Did Joe Biden drop out" on fucking Election Day.
Bitching about messaging just seems like self-soothing at this point because we don't want to confront that elections are decided by either degenerates or morons.
(i.e. they just put whatever desires they had on Trump, no matter what he said or did - this has significant overlap with the true Trump cultists, though it's not a 1:1 Venn diagram)
I don't pretend to know how you go from that info to getting those missing 2020 Biden voters to show in 2024 though.

Nobody is willing to believe that they might have just run a campaign 95% of max but they simply started too far back with inflation/incumbency etc
This is hopeful in a way, because that's theoretically easier to solve than the problem of Trump's votes having so much projection in them.
