This is why urbanists are pro street trees, seeing as real tree advocacy is about giving people the benefits of shade who can’t afford or don’t have yards themselves. The city should be their yard.

IMPORTANT: NASA map shows temperatures of up to 160 degrees on Phoenix streets & sidewalks. All that unrelenting concrete and asphalt for cars. Not nearly enough trees. They start with ridiculous heat that’s only getting worse with the #ClimateCrisis, & then make it much worse with bad design.

Plus, the Comp Plan Committee outlined they are considering setbacks for trees for final HB1110 passage
I let all this shit spin me, not just 1 writer (who’s damn good at her job)
Deciduous trees actually stop transpiring in too hot temps to save themselves at 160° leaves would be scorched it's even happening in Illinois and Michigan to tender late leafing trees like Oaks
Another win for the Auto industry and sprawl
It was 110° for 2 days in Chicago a year or 2 back hard to breathe instant sweat a/c on blast barely keeping my apt at 80°
Since they do though, what about stuff like mesquite?
