Interesting that NBA had eclipsed Madden since 2016 but 2023 had Madden take the ranking lead back.

Was that due to Madden closing the unit gap (if there was one) or does it come down to the price each was sold at?

Madden ticked up a few % in both units and dollars from '22 to '23, while 2K fell a few %. That's all it really took. These two franchises are generally in a similar ballpark.
