Ukraine has also completely changed the make up and strategy of war in the modern age. It is now about drone warfare and more Terminator-like. Its not clear whether Western militaries have modernised to take this into account.

If you read the article this assessment is predicated on the war in Ukraine stopping and NATO not improving on its current abilities.

So Russia (as the article and thread spells out) is already in active war manufacturing mode at scale. A five year breather allows them to replenish their army.

Yes, if you can undo the militairy losses of Russia, help them develop more advanced weapons ánd somehow change the resolve of all NATO countries to extend their milatairy capabilities, Russia might someday become a threat.
