You can open the self extracting file with winrar or 7zip. The batch files are completely readable and if you dont trust the ffmpeg builds you can replace them with your own. Install.bat just registers the context menu associations and videoshrinker.bat is the main script.

Oh and there's a tiny program called cmdmp3 that plays a ta-da sound file when its done, but if you dont trust that one you can just delete it and everything will run anyway 🔊

Yeah I'm guessing it's cause it's a self extracting file. All it does is extract itself to C:\ProgramData\VideoShrinker\ then update registry to add two extra options to the context menu of common video files (requires admin rights for that). But that's all it does, the batch file is fully readable.

For the sake of transparecy, no, it's not a virus :l
Virustotal does throw some false positives (4/72) cuz it's a self extracting file, but you can literally see the batch file yourself, and replace ffmpeg_v with your own build.

Program installs automatically to C:\ProgramData\VideoShrinker

Admin rights are required during the initial installation to add the registry entries that add the additional context menu options when right clicking video files, but that's it. Running the script to compress the videos does not require admin rights.

I've uploaded the source files (the exact same files that are present in the autoinstaller) to github, without ffmpeg (they're too big for github) so you can see what it does.
