Been on a 90s EU kick and decided to read Mask of Fear before heading to the post-ROTJ era. This book feels right in line with stuff like Interlude at Darkknell and The Farlander Papers. Were those Bantam era Rebel focused books any inspiration for MoF?

No direct inspiration, I'm afraid--I largely missed out on the Bantam era, so while I'm broadly familiar with the works they're not part of my DNA.

But Star Wars goes in cycles, and different creators end up in similar places because they find the same well of ideas that lead to strong stories!

Well I gotta say those Bantam era books were some of the best SW books and this novel feels right in line with them. I can tell this trilogy is gonna be one of the greats like Thrawn Trilogy or your Alphabet Trilogy.

Because in Farlander Papers Mon talks about Bail being reluctant to fight and that detail works really well when you look at their treatment in the arrests, Bail assuming he can convince the Imps that they messed up while Mothma is making bills to give potential rebellion breathing room, etc.
