I had no idea! This is definitely one of those ‘wait for it’ vids. At first I thought that was it, the octopus was just swimming around in their camouflage already, but then when it turned darker for a split sec, I was like cool! And THEN when it finally landed and transformed I was in Awe!
Had to look it up since I also wasn’t sure (and not a native speaker, although I doubt I know the correct form in my own language). Seems to be octopuses in English plural.
I need more coffee, but I initially read this as ‘ostriches’ and for one second thought, wow, I had no idea they could swim and isn’t it interesting how their legs camouflage completely. I’m going to make another coffee now, a big one
I was snorkeling off a beach on Maui when I noticed a couple of eyes looking at me from the top of a rock. I went over, and they retreated back down behind the rock, until I realized it was an octopus thinking "I'm a rock, I'm a rock, I'M A ROCK!!!" as I got closer. Too close and it swam off...
It was so smart and clearly did not want me to see it... sadly another guy was out there spear fishing near me, I later saw him coming out with what might have been the same octopus. I don't eat octopus any more...
